Interview Process Overview

  • 1. Reach Out

    Let us know that you are interested in being interviewed for a STEM for Human Rights lesson by completing a short interview interest form or by sending us an email at stemforhumanrights@thehumanprojects.com.

  • 2. Pre-Interview Call (15 minutes)

    We schedule a time to talk though the interview and answer questions. Calls typically last for 10-15 minutes.

  • 3. Interview (30 minutes)

    Interviews are recorded virtually one-on-one with a STEM for Human Rights Team member. Interviews typically last 30 minutes.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering! We are seeking to interview people who have worked on a technology/innovation in STEM that addresses or has the potential to address a local or global issue. Essentially using STEM to create positive change. We hope to encompass a wide variety of fields to help students see the many career opportunities in STEM and the ways that STEM can have a positive impact. Lesson Format:

  • Background: Overview of the technology/innovation

  • Expert Interview: Pre-recorded interviews with leaders in the field dive deeper into the innovation, impact, scientific background, and their own career path

  • Discussion & Reflection: Students engage in a discussion or reflection activity where they are encouraged to think about the issues in their community and consider ways that this innovation or another STEM innovation could impact their community

Logistics:

  • Interviews:

    • Virtual recording sessions are typically 30 minutes

    • One-on-one with a Human Projects Team member using Zoom or Google Meets

Defining human rights:

For the purposes of this program, human rights are taken in a broader philosophical sense of social good rather than the more strict guidelines in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
